We are using a new graduate application system called EngineeringCAS (a centralized application service for graduate engineering programs). All graduate engineering applications for the fall 2019 semester and beyond should be submitted using EngineeringCAS.
DO NOT use the ApplyTexas application for our majors beginning with the fall 2019 application cycle.
Please read ALL applicable information below before going to the EngineeringCAS application.
How to Apply
- Statement of Purpose – no longer than 1-2 pages
- Results from the general GRE test (subject tests are not required)
- PDF copy of your unofficial transcripts as part of your application file
- 3 Letters of Recommendation
- Texas A&M University application fee – $65 for domestic students, $90 for international
- EngineeringCAS fee – $68
All documents must be received by EngineeringCAS by the specific graduate department/program deadline.
Support for the application system is provided by EngineeringCAS.
Phone: (857) 304-2048
Hours: Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. (Eastern time)
GRE test scores are required for all applicants, except for students graduating from Texas A&M with an undergraduate or graduate engineering degree, unless stated otherwise by your department.
Accurately report your general GRE scores in the Academic History section of this application. If admitted, have the Educational Testing Service send your test scores directly to EngineeringCAS (use code 4119). This must be completed before you can start classes at Texas A&M.
Note: Test scores must be from a test date within 5 years of the date of the application. If you took the GRE more than 5 years ago, your scores have expired, and you will need to retake the exam.
Proof of English Proficiency Requirement:
Applicants whose native language is not English are required to submit proof of English proficiency to be eligible for review. English proficiency can be demonstrated by one of the criteria below.
Applicants are exempt from this requirement if they have a bachelor’s degree from a U.S. institution or are a citizen of one of these countries. (On the page, click the “Required Documents” link and scroll down to #5 to see the list of countries.)
- a minimum TOEFL score (from a test date within 2 years): 550 for paper-based testing (p-BT) or 80 for internet-based testing (i-BT)
- a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 overall band
- a GRE Verbal Reasoning score of at least 146 (subject to department approval)
- Completing all years of a Bachelor’s degree or higher at a U.S. accredited university (subject to department approval).
Tests should be taken at least 8 weeks prior to the appropriate application deadline to ensure we receive and can process your results. We will use your highest test score from one test date. Copies of test scores are not considered official, but may be uploaded to your application to help the university/department review your application for admission sooner.
TOEFL official test scores must be sent directly from the testing agency to EngineeringCAS (use code B887) to be considered official.
IELTS official test scores must be reported electronically from the testing center to Texas A&M’s Office of Admissions. To report your electronic IELTS, find this exact address in the test center database:
